DoD STARBASE NM

Students complete hands-on, minds-on activities while participating in a national program that provides opportunities to explore engineering, math operations and applications, physics, chemistry, technology, and STEM careers.

  • 5th grade

  • 25 hours of curriculum 

  • 25 contact hours 

  • Mission is conducted at the AFRL NM STEM Academy

  • Teacher orientation provided

  • Five 5-hour classes

The University of New Mexico Center for Education Policy Research (CEPR) completed a longitudinal study in 2015 on the effectiveness of DoD STARBASE NM.

The study found that STARBASE students demonstrated gains in both mathematics and language arts that persisted throughout their middle school and high school coursework.
