Air Force Weapons Lab Established

The new Weapons Lab began to build facilities on the west side of Kirtland to simulate nuclear effects, transient radiation, x-rays, and electromagnetic pulses, or EMPs. Lab scientists also engaged in research and development of laser defense technology and other forms of directed energy.
