Stomach Dosimeter

One of the earliest experiments conducted by the Air Force Special Weapons Center involved aircraft penetrating atomic clouds to take radiation samples. In this photo taken after Operation TEAPOT, pilot Captain Charles S. Oldfield removes a film badge attached to a string from his stomach to determine internalized doses of radiation.
