Atomic Cloud Sampling

Part of the Air Force Special Weapons Center mission was to detect and sample radiation levels in clouds generated by atomic-bomb detonations. Here, Air Force technicians decontaminate a B-57 sampler aircraft after it flew through Operation TEAPOT in 1955. Operation TEAPOT was a series of fourteen nuclear test explosions conducted at the Nevada Test Site in the first half of 1955.
