SHIVA Star Constructed

SHIVA Star was used to develop defense technology for the 21st century, especially plasma, a relatively neutral mixture of freely-moving electrons and nuclei. Beginning in the 1970s, researchers planned to use plasmas as a source of intense x-rays for vulnerability studies of satellites and reentry vehicles.
